Seagulls begin setting territories at the end of February and are building nests by mid-April. They tend to lay three eggs of which one or two chicks survive. They are aggressively protective of nests and chicks. A protected species, they can be dealt with by egg replacement, proofing to prevent further nesting or employing birds of prey, acoustic or laser systems.
